The Embrey Family Foundation, based in Dallas, Texas, was established in 2004 by J. Lindsay Embrey (1925-2005). It continues a family tradition of philanthropy and community-building begun by Lindsay Embrey’s great-grandfather, Judge J.M. Lindsay, in Gainesville. Today, the foundation’s activities are led by Lindsay Embrey’s daughters, Lauren and Gayle Embrey, and its board of trustees.
Mr. Embrey consistently attributed his success in business and life to his education: degrees in civil engineering and business from Southern Methodist University. And as an investor, he knew the importance of developing for the future. For five decades, he was a generous supporter of education, funding scholarships and school buildings. By establishing this gift, he put into place the building blocks of success by creating opportunities for others.
The Embrey Family Foundation extends Lindsay Embrey’s original focus on education to advance community enrichment and human rights. It funds endeavors that help create self-sufficient individuals, strong families, healthy relationships and vibrant communities. The foundation does this by investing in organizations and programs that promote innovation, achievement, collaboration and creativity.
Whether ensuring that schoolchildren have access to the arts, building the self-esteem of women in abusive relationships, empowering at-risk youth with job skills, or increasing awareness of our impact on our environment and our fellow human beings, the Embrey Family Foundation honors Lindsay Embrey’s legacy of building a better community. |
